Wallace Falls State Park Hike

Wallace Falls State Park is located off U.S. Hwy. 2 in Gold Bar, 12 miles east of Monroe. Once in Gold Bar, follow the signs two miles northeast to the park. Go to the parking lot where we will meet. Parking is ample & free. We will meet at 10:00 AM. The Hike will start about 10:30. Bring a sack lunch, coffee etc. and water. We will have lunch at the Lower Falls. There are covered tables for at least 20 people.

We are looking forward to seeing you all. The hike goes on, rain or shine, but let's hope for good weather.

Wear comfortable shoes; hiking boots are preferred.

Our yearly potluck tradition. We’ll get together to share traditional Swedish dishes (pickled herring, Johnson’s Temptation, red beets, etc.) and hear about our summer adventures. This year, we have organized a list of essential Swedish dishes, without which Sillsexa just wouldn’t be complete; please pick one to bring when you RSVP.

Olle i Skratthult

Swedish Cultural Center

The “Olle i Skratthult” ensemble, a troupe of performers from Värmland, will recreate an old-time Swedish vaudeville act at the Swedish Cultural Center. The show follows the life and career of the vaudeville performer Hjalmar Peterson from his birth in Munkfors to his death in Minneapolis in 1960. Along the way we'll hear his songs and enjoy his special brand of comedy.

A free-will donation is requested to help cover expenses involved with the production. This show can also be seen at the Nordic Heritage Museum on Friday, September 7th.
