Julpyssel / Swedish Christmas Crafts

Sunday, November 18, 2007 1-3pm
Swedish Cultural Center
1920 Dexter Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109
Evite

An afternoon of Swedish Christmas crafts and time to practice those games and songs for dancing around the Christmas tree.

For the young and young-at-heart. Members, guests, and visitors welcome. Bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and young friends for this fun event.

We will have a light lunch / snack and the craft supplies and instruction to make heart baskets and Christmas poppers to take home for your julgran. Then we'll get ready for Christmas by singing and dancing 'lekar'. We'll practice the words and dances for jul. If you know them well, you can help us.

Please bring your own scissors, if possible. Any empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls you may have as well as any extra small candies for the poppers are helpful too.

Please RSVP via the Evite or by phone to (206) 361-6206 so we can plan for food. The event is from 1pm - 3pm, but come when you can.

Free for SKF members. Nonmembers: suggested $5 donation per adult. All kids under 18 are free.

(Note: This event is not our former "Barnjulfest." Think "Klippafton" with lekar -- fun for kids.)

New Passport Regulations - Update

(Message from the Honorary Swedish Consulate in Seattle)

Attention! New Last Day to apply for a Swedish Passport!

The last day to apply for a Swedish passport at the Swedish Consulate in Seattle is Tuesday, December 11th, and NOT the 20th as earlier stated.

This new change is due to the Swedish Consulate General in Los Angeles receiving their biometric photo station earlier than predicted. Once they receive the photo station, we can no longer accept passport applications.

Due to this new change we will accept appointments outside our regular office hours (Tuesday - Friday 10am - 1pm) If you need ad appointment please call the consulate and leave a message with your name and number. We will contact you as soon as possible to set up an appointment.

Below is informatoin about the new biometric passports:

These changes are part of the worldwide effort to increase security standards. If you are applying for a regular Swedish passport or a Swedish national id-card and live in the Seattle area, the closest mission with a photo station will be the Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles. This means the honorary consulates will no longer accept regular passport or national id-card applications.

Passports and national id-cards can still be picked up at honorary consulates however, but only until Sweden begins to use digital fingerprints in travel documents. This is expected to take place during 2008.

If you need an emergency passport the Honory Consulates can still continue to receive applications for such passports for rush processing at the Consulate General in Los Angeles.

For more information, please visit www.polisen.se or www.swedenabroad.com under "Services for Swedes".

For more information please contact Louise Åkessen at the Swedish Honorary Consulate (206) 622-5640.
